Post 326 / DS Log 01
In the Era of Data Science (DS),
education can be tremendously influenced by the deluge of data that can be
obtained in and through institution’s data base(s). As a neophyte starting to
explore the domains of DS and after creating the infographic below, I have more
questions than answers I want to share with my readers now:
1) How
can student behavior be monitored and understood when facing data being
extracted from a database?
2) What
kind of behavioral model can be hypothesized and validated through data derived
from the database or other external sources?
3) What
type of trends or insights can be identified that can help the academic administration
and the educators formatively coach learners toward success?
4) What
sort of story can be told regarding the institution when trends and insights
are made visible?
5) What
methods and tools can be utilized to positively impact the business and the
learning of students?
Though I don’t really have an answer to
all these questions, I wanted to share my concerns to help us all become aware
of the potential that is hiding behind the tons of bytes of information that a
school or an education institution may have in its database(s).
If anyone gets to find a nice way to
answer all my questions (concerns), please write back to include them over
here.
